Native's $500M Growth Journey

A story about how Native Deodorant grew after being acquired by P&G, as told by founder Moiz Ali.

"My banker from the native sale texted me yesterday saying 'November 8th is the 6th year anniversary of the sale.' During the sale process, P&G asked how we were going to expand, and I looked at them and said 'Well, can you write the words Native on a shampoo bottle? How about on toothpaste? That's how you expand.'

And that's exactly what they've done. They've made it an amazing brand. They think about product development, shelf space, things in a way that's really spectacular. The business has grown from when I sold it to doing $500 million this year.

I don't think I could have done what P&G has done without them. While there are things where I look at them and think 'I wouldn't have done that,' ultimately the reason I sold was I wanted to learn from people who are masters at growing something from 30 to 100 or 500 million. I learned a lot while I was there. People always ask if I regret it - there's not a day that goes by where I go to bed thinking I shouldn't have sold. I'm always like that was the right decision."
