Liver King's Steroid Deception
Share
Sam Parr shares a story about how the Liver King, a fitness influencer, was exposed for steroid use through leaked emails while claiming to be natural.
"More Plates More Dates, this YouTuber Derek, got a hold of these email exchanges between Liver King (Brian Johnson) and a doctor. Liver King looks huge, he's yoked, has 1 million followers and makes $100 million a year on supplements.
They have documents, emails back and forth of Brian saying 'Hey, I'm gonna get popular on social media in the next month or two, I need to look totally shredded. Here's the steroids I currently take - I spend $15,000 a month, what else should I be taking?'
The reason this is a big deal is for the past year or two, he's gone on podcasts and explicitly said 'There's not a chance I'm on steroids. No, I'm not on steroids. I only do this because I eat my liver, which you guys should buy too at my website.'
What's interesting is that in the emails, he totally called his shot and hit it. He wrote 'I've hired a film crew who's living at my house, they're filming constantly, and I got to stay in great shape year round.' He had a goal of 1 million followers by 2022, and when he wrote this email he had like single-digit thousands of followers. He hit a million followers before March 2022."
