CompareVPN $100M Exit

Sam Parr shares a story about a seemingly basic website called CompareVPN that achieved massive success.

"I was looking at Michael Bisping, who's a UFC YouTuber, and a VPN company sponsored him. I thought that was strange, so I googled 'what's a good VPN.' I came across this website called CompareVPN.

The site gets millions of views. I noticed they're based in England, and in the UK, you can look up private companies' financials through Companies House. I looked up their financials - in 2021 they did $15 million in revenue and $13.2 million in profit. The year before that, $10 million in revenue, $9.5 million in profit.

The website isn't good looking, doesn't have the best design, and I believe only gets about a million visits a month. But they ended up selling for over $100 million last year. It's just this little old website that reviews VPNs. I'm sure it's more sophisticated than what it looks like, but it's not particularly impressive looking."
