Edison's Chaotic Workspace

A story about Thomas Edison's unusual work environment and dedication at his Menlo Park laboratory.

"Edison was nice to his kids and wife but was really never around. His studio in Menlo Park, New Jersey looked like a homeless encampment. There were men in suits just laying around on the floor and sleeping there because they would do their best work from midnight to 6am. They would sleep under their desks.

When people asked why they were doing this, Edison would say 'Because there's so much to do and we love it - we can't not do this.'"
