Netflix Rejects Generic Design

Ramit shares a story about pushing back on generic office design for his Netflix show.

"They finally found an office in LA literally 7 days before filming started and they designed it in 24 hours. They wanted me to come walk through it and give feedback on the design. When I walked in, it looked like a white person is selling their Airbnb - it had all geometric shapes on the wood. I said 'No, this is not me.'

I pulled out a Pinterest board of interior design home offices. My style is wood, stone, Japanese design, minimalism, and basically an unlimited budget. They took one look at that and started laughing because they said 'We have a budget and we have 2 days to finish this office.'

We hashed it out and came up with something that I think looks pretty good. But when I went in the first day, the crew was huge - there could have been 30 people in there with multiple cameras, sound producers, makeup. It was embarrassing."
