Gas Station Problem Solving

Sam shares a story about a moment of clarity he had while observing people at a gas station, which made him question the value of pure financial pursuits.

"I remember being at this gas station and I saw this mom give her kid a generic coke. It killed me that this little girl was going to drink this. I started thinking about how we could help this mother either afford or learn to make better decisions for her child.

This moment made me realize I'm way more fascinated about how to make regular people just a little bit happier or better, rather than focusing on how to squeeze out another 5% return or optimize some financial metric.

It hit me that I don't want to talk about carry fees anymore or focus on financial arbitrage. When I see these normal people at the gas station with their wives and kids, I realize I want to actually make a difference in their lives instead of just trying to eke out more profit from services."
