Altman's Bold Coming Out
Share
A story about how Sam Altman made a bold stand for inclusivity at his prep school by coming out during a controversial assembly.
At John Burroughs prep school in St. Louis, there was a situation where a Christian group boycotted an assembly about sexuality. Sam Altman took the mic, announced that he was gay, and then asked the school whether they wanted to be a repressive place or a place open to different ideas.
The impact was profound. According to the college counselor: "What Sam did changed the school. It felt like somebody opened up a big box and then all kids of all kinds got to be let out into the world."
