Micromanaging Drives Leaders Away

A story about how excessive management oversight led to a CEO's departure.
Noah Kagan shares how his over-involvement as a founder affected his relationship with his CEO Eamon:
"They actually kept me out of Slack, kept me out of everything because it's kind of like noise. I'm like a Jewish mother - 'Noah, what's that on the screen? What is that?' It's better to be out. That's probably the reason he wanted to step out.
I think to some extent, no one feels excited to have someone constantly asking 'What are you doing today?' I think there was probably a little bit too much of that."
Sam Parr relates to this, saying he's had people quit for the same reason: "I did the same thing where I'm like 'Why are you doing this? What's going on today? What actions can we take immediately to fix XYZ?' You need that urgency, but if you have a winner, you gotta let them chill and get it done."
