MessageBird Pitch Success

Justin Kan shares how he got his first client for Atrium through helping with pitch narrative.

"I posted on the internal YC forum offering to help founders with pitch feedback in exchange for customer feedback about their fundraising process. I connected with one of my friends who has this company called MessageBird, which is basically an SMS and phone API company.

His business was growing super fast, on track to do $80 million in revenue that year, but he told me 'I can't get any traction with investors.' I helped him out with his narrative, and two weeks later he had a term sheet and ended up raising $60 million.

When he had the term sheet, I said 'Hey, we have this law firm, maybe you could consider using it?' He was excited and said 'Sure, I'd love to give Atrium a try.' That's how we kicked it off.

This led us to eventually formalize the process by creating Atrium Scale, a free bootcamp we run every couple months to help founders raise money. We've had over 60 founders go through our bootcamp over the last 6 months, and about a quarter of them ended up raising Series A or Series B."
