A story about how FBI agents orchestrated an elaborate operation to capture Ross Ulbricht's laptop while he was logged into Silk Road at a public library.
"The way they caught him was pretty amazing. They tracked Ross to a library about 8 houses up from where I lived in Glen Park. They knew he worked out of there. The investigators had this whole operation planned: Ross is sitting at a table with his computer open, working on Silk Road. They have 2 investigators go behind him and act like two homeless people getting into a fight.
When Ross turns his back to his computer to see what's going on, someone swoops in and grabs the laptop. Another person tackles him, and they rush the laptop down to a van waiting outside. They take screenshots and download all the data while he was still logged into the Silk Road admin account. They found everything they wanted - they could see how much Bitcoin he had (144,000 Bitcoin, which at its peak of $60k would've been worth about $8.5 billion), his diary logging everything that was going on, and even an escape plan about what he was going to do if he got caught."
