Social Chain's Account Acquisitions

A story about how Steve Bartlett built Social Chain by acquiring and monetizing social media accounts.

"There was this guy Steve Bartlett who built this company called Social Chain. They had 25 employees that were all under the age of 22 managing these media accounts and making tons of money. They built an office with a playpen inside.

He had such control over social media that he could manipulate Twitter trends at will. He would be on stage at events, ask the audience to say a word like 'gobbledygook', and then say 'while we're talking, in 30 minutes we're going to check Twitter.' Sure enough, gobbledygook would be trending on Twitter, becoming the number one trend in all of Europe because his accounts would all start talking about it in meme format.

He parlayed this into getting sponsorships and eventually took the company public in England for like a $200-300 million market cap, which turned him into quite a wealthy person. He just released a book called 'Happy Sexy Millionaire.'"
