College Student Lands Corporate

Austin Rief shares a story about receiving his first major corporate advertising deal while still being a college student.

"One of our first advertisers, Discover, gave us a million dollars. I was a senior in college living in my frat house - beer cans everywhere. I get an email from the CMO of Discover with an RFP. I'm like 'What in the fuck is an RFP?' I open it up and it's asking for media plans for half a million to a million dollars.

For a million dollars, she could've owned the company 7 times over - the company was not worth $100 at the time. And here's this woman asking for a million-dollar RFP. We just learned it as we went, but it really is a relationship-driven game."
