Angel Returns 40x-80x

Shaan shares a story about his recent success with angel investments through his 2-year-old fund.

"A couple of my investments have taken off. The fund is now 2 years old and we have 2 or 3 companies that are 40x to 80x returns - not liquid yet, so anything can happen, but that's a crazy multiple.

In my brain, I knew intellectually this is how it's supposed to go. You're supposed to do this angel investing thing, get this basket of companies, and then you're looking for these breakouts that are going to return huge multiples - 20x, 30x, 50x, 100x, 1000x returns.

When you start to see it actually happen, you take out the calculator app and realize 'wow this is incredible' - $100,000 can turn into 10 million just like that. $100,000 could turn into 50 million if it does one more leap.

It's given me a second wind. When things become real, things always ratchet up. The same thing happened with content creation - I thought I was already trying, and then we started getting 100,000+ per episode, and now I'm doing more research. I thought I was already doing research, but now I want to push the envelope further."
