Photography Business Cold Call

Alex Hormozi shares how he made his first photography business acquisition through a random sales call during COVID.

"During COVID, because gyms were affected, we took a hit. To get some space, by happenstance, a guy who owned a single photography studio made his way on my calendar. He took a sales call through my software company because he knew I was taking calls for testing.

He had read my small book in the gym space called Gym Launch Secrets, applied it to his photography business, and hopped on the call. He said 'I have no interest in your software, but can you please give me 20 minutes?' I just liked his vibe.

We ended up doing a deal and took a minority percentage of the business. They were doing $1.6 million a year at a single location, which is pretty awesome for a tiny photography studio. He had taken concepts from the book, applied them, and grown the business a lot. He also had an agency for photographers to do the same model.

We were having a conversation and he mentioned all the photographer studios add $400,000 a year to their top line when they use their system. I said 'Okay, how much are we selling this thing for?' and decided we should own them all. As of today, we have 36 locations in that business, doing $30+ million a year and it continues to grow by 1 or 2 locations every month."
