Buenos Aires Local Living

Shaan tells a story about how he and his girlfriend (now wife) lived in Buenos Aires for 6 weeks instead of staying in San Francisco.

"A couple years ago, I was sitting in San Francisco and thought 'Why am I just here all the time? Life is so big, the world is so big.' So I told my girlfriend at the time, 'Let's go live in South America for the next 6 weeks. I'll just work from there.'

I realized I could do an arbitrage where you can Airbnb your house in San Francisco and make more - you could literally live for free somewhere else in the world. So we went for 5-6 weeks and lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We lived there like locals, not like expats. It wasn't a vacation where you go sightsee, take photos, and leave after 5 days. It was more like 'What's the coffee shop we should go to? How do we get groceries?'

It was a way better experience. I planned to do it every year, but then one year we were getting married, then I had a kid. Now that my child is almost a year old, I think we can do it again this year."
