Security Deposit Recovery Battle

Sam Parr shares a story about recovering a large security deposit from an unresponsive landlord.

"I had a $16,000 deposit for our office. When COVID hit, our office lease happened to end right around then, so we got lucky and canceled it. But this guy would not give me the $16,000 back.

I got crazy on him. I found out where he lived and showed up at his house - he wasn't there. I found out where he worked and showed up there - he wasn't there. Then I used DoNotPay to send him a scary letter.

Finally he got back to me saying 'Oh yeah, just slipped my mind' like it was no big deal. I was like 'Dude, I've been hunting you for 6 weeks, where's this money?'

The scary letter worked and I got my $16,000 back. Though legally you're supposed to get the deposit plus interest, which I didn't get. I thought about fighting over this just out of principle because I love petty stuff."
