Blockworks Bootstrapped Success

A story about how a 27-year-old entrepreneur built Blockworks, a successful crypto media company, through persistence and bootstrapping.

"I met this guy who runs Blockworks - it's basically like The Hustle or Morning Brew but for crypto. He's only 27 years old and I went to his house in Brooklyn. He built an awesome business that will probably do north of $10 million in revenue this year, completely bootstrapped.

He started it when he was 23 years old by cold emailing Pomp (a big bitcoin guy). He kept persistently emailing him until Pomp finally said 'alright, you've been emailing me too much. I'm thinking about launching this podcast, I need help launching and monetizing it - do you want to help?' The kid said yes, and then eventually launched Blockworks 3-4 years ago.

It's only an LLC so he completely owns it - didn't raise any money. They now have about 20 people, 12 podcasts, and he runs it just like a small business where he just slowly adds and adds. They make money through email, podcasts, and conferences.

I think you're going to see this company sell for in the 40 to $50 million range in the next 18 months. It's fascinating - he picked the right category and just executed."
