Hustle Con Dinner Connections

A story about how a random dinner request led to important business relationships and friendships.

"This is how crazy the world works - one of those moments where you can't connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them when you look back. Sam cold emailed me saying he wanted to host a dinner at my office. I didn't know who he was, but he made a strong pitch saying he'd have all his speakers from his conference there to mingle with.

At that dinner, I met Sui who is now my best friend - we've done tons of deals together. That wouldn't have happened if I hadn't said yes to something random. At that dinner, I was amazed by this guy. I thought 'Why don't people in Silicon Valley know about him?'

I started googling him and found out he had previously sold his Facebook apps company for between $1-3 million. He then took that money and aggressively started buying up Facebook stock before it was public, just like Chris Sacca. He also bought real estate in Florida.

I really admired him because when he knew something was good, he went all in. He took all his money and put it into Facebook while simultaneously building his next business. It was a great example to follow."
