Ford's Charcoal Innovation
Share
Sam Parr shares the origin story of how Kingsford Charcoal was created from Ford Motor Company's manufacturing waste.
"Do you know how Kingsford Charcoal was created? When Ford was making cars, they had to have all these furnaces making metal. They took the leftover char and thought 'what should we do with this?' So they pushed it together and compact it really tight and that's how charcoal came to be. It was a byproduct business.
I love byproduct stuff. It's tangentially related to the sharing economy. I love that stuff - I love byproduct businesses."
