Costco Team Challenge

Sam Parr shares a successful team building activity they did at The Hustle involving a Costco shopping challenge.

"At The Hustle, we did this thing every month where we had about $1,000 and one person could vote how the group would spend it together. One time when we had about 12-20 employees, since our office was down the street from Costco, we split people into teams of two. Each group got $200 - $100 had to be spent on food, $100 on non-food items. They had 20 minutes to go buy something.

At the end, we'd vote on who got the best thing. People bought stuff like those big cheese ball things - things you don't really want to buy for your house but always wanted to try. It was the most fun team building activity we ever had.

It then morphed into eating contests. We had one lady who worked for us who ate 12 Krispy Kreme donuts in 7 minutes, then went to the bathroom, got sick and had to go home.

The last evolution was taste tests. We would buy every single bottle of water from this nice grocery store near our office and people had to guess which bottle was which. We had a guy who claimed he could tell the difference between all the grapes, so we offered him $100 if he could guess correctly."
