Mansion vs Monk Lifestyles

A story about visiting two successful people with completely different lifestyles and approaches to success.

"I went to Joe Lonsdale's house - it's this elaborate mansion, beautiful backyard, Olympic-sized swimming pool with statues shooting water from their mouths. He's got an old Victorian gun, a full staff serving breakfast, and operates like a high-performance machine. Right after we left, Elon Musk was coming over for lunch with the senators of the area.

Then I go to Manish's house. We asked if we could come between 4 and 4:20, he says 'come whenever you want.' He's hanging out in basketball shorts and flip-flops, just took a nap which he does every day. He shows us his nap room and says 'My whole job is to make a couple great decisions a year, so I just read and think and try to have a great calm state of mind and meet interesting people. That's all I do. I don't have to go-go-go, I don't have to meet the senators.' He shows me his library where we record the podcast - he's got thousands of books he's read all of them.

With Joe Lonsdale, I went at 8 AM, did the morning workout, had breakfast, jumped in the cold plunge - all before the podcast. It was just so interesting to see these different ways to win when you see them up close in person."
