$38K Cash Feels Broke

Shaan shares a story about feeling cash-poor despite having what many would consider a significant amount in his checking account.

"Two months ago I was like 'oh my god I have like no cash left.' I was investing in everything I saw - putting money into startups, into crypto, into stuff. Then my payroll expanded and I looked at my account - I had $38,000 in my Wells Fargo checking account.

I was like 'where did all the money go?' When I looked at the outgoing transactions, it wasn't that my spending had gone up - I was really just investing a lot of money. I realized I need to manage cash better. I needed to send my invoices for things, like teaching a course and podcast payments. Most of my money was going into long-term illiquid things or my own businesses.

It was just a reminder that maybe I should take a withdrawal out of my business and put money in my bank account. But I don't really get too worried about it - I'm probably too far on the dial of being willing to spend on whatever."
