A story about how George Hotz, a famous hacker, got hired by Elon Musk to work on Twitter after publicly offering his services.
"George Hotz tweets out about Elon's 'hardcore' email and says 'this is great, this is exactly what it takes to win.' He starts getting backlash from people saying 'oh yeah, you should all just be slaves to this billionaire.'
He responds 'Can you imagine the excitement of getting to work on this right now? This is amazing. Screw it, I'll put my money where my mouth is - hey Elon, I'll do a 12-week internship, I'll work for free and I want to come help you fix Twitter.'
Elon goes 'Sure, let's talk' and George replies 'My number hasn't changed.' So he agreed to work on Twitter - Elon gave him the problem of fixing Twitter search. He has 12 weeks to do it, and he's only taking a cost of living stipend of about $2,000 a week.
Now he's publicly trying to fix Twitter search and tweeting out every day what he's doing. This is a guy that's a multimillionaire, cannot be hired for a job, he's an entrepreneur that could snap his fingers and get funding again - but he took this challenge."
