A story about how Susan Wojcicki became involved with Google through renting her garage to the founders.
"Susan's sister Anne was dating Sergei, and Anne says 'my boyfriend needs office space.' Susan wasn't wealthy at the time - she was a mid-level marketing manager at some company. She and her husband had just bought this house and were feeling a bit of a pinch.
They put up an ad to rent out their garage, and the Google guys ended up renting it for $1,700 a month. She would see them working there day and night, and she'd hear updates just from bumping into them. She quit her job and ended up being employee #16 at Google.
She worked on AdWords for a bit, and then she became a big advocate for acquiring YouTube. When they acquired YouTube, they said 'hey you were a big champion for this deal' and she ended up becoming the CEO of YouTube for many years before she passed away."
