AJ Patel's Pet-to-Snacks Success

A story about an entrepreneur named AJ Patel who built multiple successful businesses through persistence and pivoting.

"In 2012-2014, he started a vitamin brand that only did okay. Then he started tinkering with a skincare brand which did much better, got to about $10 million in revenue. He hired a CEO who drove it into the ground and didn't do well.

So he started focusing again on his vitamin brand and thought 'Look, it's doing okay, but who's the best customer of a vitamin company? Dogs.' He pivoted to dog vitamins and it took off. He grew it to $25 million in revenue, then sold part of it to a PE company and took $60 million off the table. He grew it for another 3 years and sold it for around $650 million, and he still owned half of it. So collectively he made $300-400 million at age 32.

This guy isn't in Silicon Valley or New York or Brooklyn - he's in Orlando, Florida. He's an Indian immigrant who came over, decided Florida was the place, and knocked it out of the park. Now he has High Key which is number 6 on the Inc 5000 list - they grew 41,000% and are doing somewhere between $20-40 million in revenue. And he's just quietly crushing it."
