Gulf War TV Crisis

A story about how Guthy-Renker almost went bankrupt during the Gulf War because their infomercial business model was disrupted by war coverage.

"By 1990 we were doing $36 million a year, but we almost went bankrupt because the Gulf War starts in '91 and all television attention goes to that. The infomercial business just sucks and we had to basically fire everybody just to stay alive during that year because infomercials were not converting - the war was taking everybody's attention.
