Rockefeller's Open Book Strategy
Share
A story about how John Rockefeller would negotiate with small oil refineries using transparency and intimidation.
"He would basically go out and buy all these small oil refineries and if they didn't sell he goes 'Hey look, I'm gonna write you a fair deal. If you don't take my offer, I'm gonna crush you. I'll show you all my accounting and all my revenue so you know I'm gonna crush you, so I think you should take this deal so we can get rich together, otherwise you're dead.'
A lot of them took him up on that and they did get rich. Some of them didn't."
