Sparkle Bar Goes Virtual

A story about how a Scottsdale makeup studio adapted their business model during COVID-19 closures.

"The Sparkle Bar is a makeup studio in the Scottsdale area that got closed down about a week ago. Even before closing, they saw a huge dip in customers because people were concerned about close contact.

Alex Bradbury, the operator of the studio, showed how they're doing innovative things with teleconferencing. The Sparkle Bar takes pride in their customer relationships - they work with clients before appointments and check up afterwards, especially for special events like weddings.

Now they're shifting their entire business model with their 13 employees. They bought themselves some time with gift cards and cash flow adjustments, and they're creating a system where they can send customers makeup and conduct styling sessions over video conference. They still maintain their follow-up process to ensure everything went well.

They're very much working as they go, but it's pretty cool to see how even an industry like that was able to make the switch."
