Agora Newsletter Profits

A story about how Agora Financial built a massive newsletter empire through targeting self-directed investors.

"There's this company called Beacon Hill, a subsidiary of Agora. They own twelve different newsletter brands that collectively do $550 million in revenue and $200 million in profit, growing 77% over last year.

They have 10 million free subscribers, 550,000 people paying between $600-$1,600, a quarter million people paying $600-$5,000, and 100,000 people paying more than $5,000. They even have some newsletters that cost $35,000.

Their business model is they have 160 products across 12 brands. They get you to buy a $49 thing first, then they get you to buy a $2,000 thing. Their target demographic is self-directed investors - basically wealthy older white people who are probably Republican. They run ads saying things like 'Nancy Pelosi is coming for your guns, you better invest in these 8 stocks.'

It's basically like Motley Fool on steroids, but I think Motley Fool is ethical - these guys aren't. They even sold a book claiming to cure diabetes. It's all financial news, newsletters, and stock picks. Most people don't know about this empire, but now we have proof of how big they actually are."
