Soap Opera Website Sale

A story about how Ramon Van Meer discovered and validated the soap opera website business idea that he later sold for millions.
"I saw a website for sale in the daytime TV niche that was like $100,000. I didn't have $100,000, but I thought if this is worth $100,000, maybe I can make something like this.
I tested ideas by creating about 30 fan pages on Facebook. At the time, you could promote a fan page for just cents and get a bunch of likes. This helped me test which topics people were most engaged with. The top performing topics were right-wing politics, soap operas, wrestling, and cars.
I didn't want to do politics, so I chose soap operas. I went on Upwork.com, hired a writer in the Midwest to write soap opera spoilers, and put up a simple blog to test if people would go from Facebook to a blog. It started making 10 cents a day from Google AdSense, then a dollar a day, then $10, and that's how it grew.
I had never watched a soap opera episode in my life, but I didn't overthink it. I just liked to buy things and sell things for a little bit more - that was my passion. Whether it's cups, dog ramps, or soap opera spoilers, I love the process of business and selling things. Eventually, I sold the site for 9 or 10 million dollars cash."
