Ninja Refuses Luminosity Revenue

A story about how Ninja, a top gaming streamer, effectively broke his contract with Luminosity Gaming despite their early investment in him.

"Ninja became the number one gaming star in the world when Fortnite became the number one game in the world. He got picked up by Red Bull and was getting paid millions of dollars every single month from both fans and advertisers - making $30 million a year.

This team, Luminosity, had bet on him early and acquired the commercial rights to his channel under contract. But Ninja basically said 'I'm not sharing any revenue with you.' When they brought up the contract, he essentially said 'If you want to try to enforce this, you can, but I will drag you through the mud as trying to bring me down.' This would have been the worst thing for Luminosity's business of acquiring new players - having everyone know Ninja was unhappy with them.

So Luminosity had to sit quiet and take the loss. They weren't getting paid the full amount they should have shared. They still got to be branded and associated with him, but they didn't get the upside of their great bet. Then Ninja went with Loaded, a talent agency, and started getting huge deals with Samsung and equity deals in accessories companies. But eventually, Ninja left Loaded too because he realized he could do it on his own."
