Rockefeller's Health Obsession
Share
Sam Parr shares a story about John Rockefeller's obsessive health habits from his biography.
"I first was interested in how wealthy people care about health like 10 years ago when I read the biography of John Rockefeller. He probably died in 1930 or 1940. In the book, they describe how he chooses his food super slow and makes sure that it's fully liquid before he swallows.
When he was like 80 years old, he basically was a vegetarian. If he wanted to eat a piece of chocolate, he would call his doctor and say 'Hey, is it okay if I have this?' He was anal about that.
Thomas Edison did similar stuff. He would say 'I eat light and I try not to overeat, I take a nap once a day.' So wealthy people have always cared about health. The difference between today's wealthy people and those in 1880 is basically that we have a bit more science."
