Emma Grede's Billion-Dollar Brands

A story about Emma Grede, who built multiple billion-dollar brands with the Kardashians and went from humble beginnings to massive success.

"Emma Grede is the business shark behind a bunch of the Kardashian brands. She was a founding partner in Skims, the multibillion-dollar shapewear brand for Kim Kardashian - her husband is the CEO of that. She co-founded Good American, the jeans brand that probably does $300 million a year in revenue with Khloe Kardashian. Then with Kris Jenner, she co-founds Safely, a plant-based cleaning product brand with her and Chrissy Teigen.

She's daughter of a single mom. When she's young, she's a hustler - she's got a paper route, working at a deli, all kinds of blue collar jobs. She goes to London College of Fashion at 14-15 years old, already interning at Gucci. She drops out because she's learning more and building a more valuable network outside of school than inside.

She starts her own agency called ITB at 26. She's connecting fashion brands with influencers and celebrities. Her break came when Calvin Klein wanted to do a campaign - she sources 70 different models and influencers, one being Kendall Jenner. Through that she meets Kris Jenner, builds some respect, and then pitches her idea for Good American to Kris and Khloe.

Now she owns 8% of Skims which is valued at $3 billion, plus her stakes in Good American and other ventures. She and her husband have a holding company called Popular Ventures, doing deals with celebrities like Tom Brady. They've built a $450-500 million net worth just cofounding these brands with the Kardashian family."
