A story about how Shaan Puri's team member Zack became the top referrer to Y Combinator.
"Zack is a young engineer, he was a YC founder himself though that company didn't work out. He reached out after hearing about my rolling fund and said he'd love to help while thinking about his next thing.
He turned out to be super well connected with the young founder community. For this year's YC batch, he himself referred in 22 of the companies - he was the number one referrer into YC. He knew a bunch of the YC companies before they even got in.
He's really great at seeing things earlier than most, so I brought him into the fund and gave him a chance to have some upside in this thing. He and Romine went through every single deal on an Airtable, vetted them, made a list of the interesting ones, did meetings, and then brought the most interesting seven to me saying 'these are the ones to do.'"
