    • Creates original analyses and opinions
    • Focuses on putting out unique thoughts and perspectives
  • Lifestyle Influencer

    • Lives an interesting life and shares 10% of it
    • Most rewarding and unique playstyle
    • Hard to replicate because it's based on personal experience
    • Most valuable because it's authentic and cannot be easily copied

Key Principles for Success

  • Don't grow an audience for the sake of growing an audience

    • Audience should be a byproduct of doing something else you want to do
    • Focus on scratching your own itch or curiosity
  • Focus on being interesting first

    • Lead an interesting life
    • Learn interesting things
    • Be somewhat good at talking about it publicly
  • Authenticity matters more than optimization

    • Better to do interesting things and share them
    • More valuable than trying to optimize for metrics
    • Cannot be easily replicated by others

Building an Audience

  • Start with a clear purpose

    • Example: Using podcast to meet interesting people
    • Having an excuse to connect with people you want to meet
    • Creating content as a byproduct of genuine curiosity
  • Focus on quality over growth tactics

    • Don't obsess over optimization strategies
    • Let audience growth happen naturally through interesting content
    • Build around what you genuinely want to do
