Family Board Meeting Ritual
Share
A couple started a new family tradition of doing formal end-of-year presentations to review the past year and set goals for the upcoming year, structured like a corporate board meeting but with a fun twist.
Format & Structure
- Set up as a "family board meeting"
- Can use slide decks or memos to present
- Presenters dress up (e.g., Steve Jobs style) to make it fun
- Meant to be both serious reflection and entertaining
Key Components
- Review of previous year's accomplishments
- Goal setting for upcoming year
- Personal statistics and metrics tracking
- Resolutions and future planning
Example Metrics Tracked (from one family's presentation)
- Detailed parenting statistics:
- 350 gallons of milk produced in 2021
- 1,800 hours spent nursing
- 104 nights sleeping on child's floor (roughly 1/3 of year)
Implementation
- Started with just husband and wife
- Plans to expand to include:
- Siblings
- Parents
- Extended family members
Purpose
- Creates structured reflection time
- Combines accountability with family bonding
- Balances serious goal-setting with humor
- Documents personal and family progress
