Airline Compensation Ad Success

A story about how a company called Service achieved rapid growth by helping people claim airline delay compensation.

"There was this product called Service that found a lesser-known loophole in airline contracts where they would give flyers money back if their flight was delayed. No one wanted to deal with the paperwork to claim it, so Service said 'Hey, we'll automate this, create a VA army, and file the paperwork for you. You just give us your itinerary and we'll get you the cash back.'

This created some of the world's best performing ads because when they ran Facebook ads saying 'Did you know airlines will pay you up to $100 whenever you're delayed?' the click-through rates were astronomical and the cost per click was super low. They were able to quickly scale to $1 million in monthly ad spend.

The interesting part is that eventually the airlines caught on to what was happening and shut it down by tightening up their policies. Sometimes these growth wedges can be flimsy, but if you've already collected happy customers who trust you for other products, it might still be worth it."
