AI-First E-commerce Platform

A platform for building AI-first e-commerce solutions that would enable the next generation of online stores to be built on Vercel.

Key Points:

  • Platform of Platforms Strategy:

    • Vercel wants to be the foundation where "the next Shopify" is born
    • Creating a more granular version of their platform specifically for e-commerce
  • AI-First Approach:

    • Unlike traditional e-commerce platforms, these would start with intelligence
    • Not building the same Shopify that exists today, but something fundamentally smarter
  • Potential Features:

    • Import a photo of a product you want to sell and the AI handles the rest
    • Start with a prompt describing what you want your store to be
    • For existing physical stores: one-button creation that automatically ingests all products, SKUs, and categories
  • Similar Pattern Across Industries:

    • This approach extends beyond e-commerce
    • Example: GC.AI built on Vercel as "V Zero for lawyers" - allowing legal document drafting through prompts
    • The pattern is creating specialized AI-powered platforms for specific industries
  • Business Model:

    • Built on top of Vercel's infrastructure
    • Follows the same model that made Shopify successful - a specialized platform built on more general infrastructure
