JP Morgan's Boat Tactic

A story about how JP Morgan used clever negotiation tactics by stranding people on his boat until they reached an agreement.

"I'm reading this book about JP Morgan from the Gilded Age. He was trying to settle an agreement with 5 different union heads of steel companies. He goes 'come out to my boat and we're gonna go for a boat ride and discuss.'

He gets on the boat and tells everyone 'alright' and then the pilot of the boat goes off in a rowboat. He says 'we don't have a captain, we're stranded out here until we settle a deal. We are not leaving until the deal is done.'

It's that pizzazz, that showmanship - every great actor needs a good set. He set up that set wonderfully."
