MrBeast's Rule of 100

Most people aren't serious about what they claim they want to do. The Rule of 100 is a simple filter that separates serious people from everyone else and builds unstoppable momentum.

The Rule of 100

  • Make 100 videos (or 100 attempts at your chosen pursuit)
  • With each video, pick ONE thing to improve
    • Better intro, caption, outro, music, pacing, editing, etc.
    • Just one thing every single time
  • After 100 videos, come back for next steps

Why it works

  • Filters out non-serious people: Nobody is willing to do 100 videos
    • Everyone wants to be MrBeast, but nobody wants to be Jimmy who started at 12
    • Years 12-18: nobody watched his videos
    • Seven years through hell before anyone paid attention
  • Builds massive momentum: The 1% who actually do it don't need help anymore
    • By video 100, they're flying
    • So full of momentum they forgot they needed advice
    • Already know what to do next

The competition illusion

  • Things seem really hard, unlikely, and challenging
  • But most people are not serious - they're not actually trying
  • Example: Conference with 10,000 attendees competing for stage spots
    • Looks like 1 in 10,000 chance
    • Only ~50 people actually believed they would win
    • Real odds: 1 in 10, not 1 in 10,000
  • If you're serious, you're already in the final 50 out of 10,000

The broader principle

  • Applies to basically any pursuit, not just YouTube
  • Most people don't take simple ideas seriously
  • No bonus points for doing everything the hard way
  • If you just decide "I'm serious about this, I'm a serious person" - you're already ahead

Key insight

  • Your odds are much better than you think
  • The real competition is tiny because most people quit or never start seriously
  • Being serious and committed is itself a massive competitive advantage
