Hermozi's Gym Launch Exit

A story about how Alex Hermozi built and sold his company Gym Launch, which helped small gym owners increase their revenue.

"He created this business called Gym Launch where you would pay either $4,000 or $20,000 for their service. It was for people who owned small gyms - whether that's a CrossFit gym or a personal training gym. He would teach you how to make your gym better because he owned gyms himself.

He would promise you'd gain at least $75,000 in new revenue, but for a lot of people, they averaged improvements of $200,000 in revenue. The business model was crazy and the results were even crazier.

By the time the business was 4 years old, he had bootstrapped it and paid himself $45 million in dividends. Then on the 5th year, he sold it and netted something like $50-60 million. So he had about $25 million just in cash in the bank, then netted another 50 million from the sale.

The key was that instead of selling gym memberships for $20 a month, he realized people don't want a membership - they want to lose weight in 6 weeks or less, they want to look good on the beach. So he sold programs that promised those specific results. Russell Brunson pointed out to him that instead of opening gyms himself, he should teach other gym owners how to do this, and that's how Gym Launch was born."
