Multi-Generation Entrepreneurs Meet

Shaan shares insights about how different age groups of entrepreneurs approach business and life, based on a weekend gathering in San Diego.
"Let me tell you the differences across the age groups we had there. The guys in their twenties were the 'I got it all figured out' guys. They actually do have a lot of life figured out, they're way ahead of the curve, but the problem is they think they're at the end of the curve. They think they got it all figured out.
The guys in their thirties like us are in this weird middle state. We have a lot of self belief, but now know how expensive it is to go down the wrong path. The twenties guys don't think about the path - they're just pathing. They're like 'I'm just on the path, I don't even think about the fact that I could be doing 5 other things.'
The forties were like 'We know what we're doing.' When they hear about what all these other guys are doing, they're half amused and half exhausted. They're like 'I don't feel like I need to know any of this stuff. I'm perfectly happy not being in NFTs and not knowing how to do TikTok videos.'
Then the seventies were basically focused on two things: wanting to contribute through philanthropic projects, and just being happy we came over to their house. When we were leaving, I realized their house would be really quiet once we left. At that age, they care about their grandkids, their kids marrying the right person, and figuring out how to contribute. Any liveliness in the house was a win - it didn't matter what we talked about."
