165 University's Startup Success

A story about a legendary office building in Palo Alto that housed several successful tech companies.

"Let me tell you about 165 University Avenue, also known as the Lucky Office or the Karma Building. Google was started there. Before Google, PayPal was started there. Before PayPal, Logitech was started there. After Google, a company called Danger was started there and sold for $500 million to Microsoft by the guy who created Android.

The building has had a bit of a cold streak recently. It's kind of like what Ed Sheeran says about recording studios - he believes that rooms have songs, and once a studio has been mined by 4 or 5 great artists, it loses its magic. There's no more songs left in the room. That's kind of what's happened to this office now."
