Rodeo Bull Investment Returns

Sam shares a story about his family's unusual investment in competitive rodeo bulls.
"My cousins are cowboys - they buck bulls. When I went to their house once, instead of going to the community softball game, we went to the community rodeo. There were only like 20 people in the stands, but they were practicing their rodeo.
Bulls are mean - they want to kill you even if you raise them. They get on these bulls and buck them off. The person who stays on longest gets a prize, but the bull who bucks the hardest based off judging wins a prize too.
My parents bought into a bull for $50,000 and they get a portion of the offspring - the sperm that they sell - and they get a portion of the winnings from the bull. The return's not that great, but you get a couple grand every once in a while. The risk is the bull can break its leg and you're screwed.
It's a huge sport in certain parts of the country. My cousin went to college on a scholarship for bucking bulls. These folks come to the rodeo with like 10-30-40 grand in cash and they're playing right there on it."
