VCs Accept Past Fraud

Billy McFarland shares a story about reaching out to venture funds after getting out of prison.

"I texted like 8 venture funds a few weeks ago. It was literally a broken grammar, 2-line sentence. Two told me to fuck off, one didn't respond, one asked for more questions, and four responded within minutes saying 'we're in.'

The issue is, as I've gone through the process, I'm actually not allowed due to an SEC deal to raise securities, so I can't go and raise money. The ironic part is that it probably would have been easier this time to raise venture money. No decks, none of that - I just said 'here's all I have' and people wanted to back it. I just can't raise the funds."
