COVID Dashboard Reaches Millions

A student shares how their nonprofit organization built one of the most widely used COVID-19 tracking dashboards.

"We launched the world's most popular coronavirus tracking dashboard in January 2020, before COVID-19 was officially a pandemic. It was used by over 600 million people and was recognized by Dr. Fauci as an invaluable resource in distributing COVID-19 information. We were also recognized as being able to compile coronavirus data faster than the CDC and share it with the general public.

I believe it was because of how early it was released. This was before Johns Hopkins started publicly aggregating all the data and releasing it. We just had an advantage of being one of the first people to compile all this data and share it with everyone. This was in January 2020, three months before the pandemic officially began, just in the early stages."
