Small Boy Newsletter Growth

Shaan shares the growth story of his newsletter Small Boy and his approach to tracking important decisions.

"Small Boy is growing like crazy. We have like 100,000 people on the list now. I started at 38-40k from my old email newsletter, Five Through Tuesday. Then at the start of this year, around February, we launched Small Boy.

We did some paid marketing, but still about half is organic growth. When people ask why I started it, my decision register shows I thought 'I know how to do this because I watched Sam do this from scratch with The Hustle.' I figured if you took the Hustle + crypto that would work. That was the whole thing - pretty sure Hustle + crypto would work.

The benefit for me with Milk Road was I was there when Sam was doing just events and blogs before pivoting to newsletters. We were in a mastermind group, checking in every month talking about what's going on. I got to see the 5-year under-the-water build up. Most people don't have that - that's just luck basically for me. That's why Milk Road was able to work better than if I hadn't had that experience."
