Kendall tells a story about how he gamed Tesla's referral program by ranking #1 in Google for "Tesla referral code" searches.
"I had a Tesla and at the time they had the Tesla referral program. They gave every owner a unique code to get 5,000 supercharger miles. People were searching for it and I thought perfect - that's what I do for a living, I rank in Google.
When you searched 'tesla referral code' my site was number one. I basically made a /tesla page on my existing site Fair Estimate, which was originally a Lyft versus Uber comparison tool.
I sent hundreds of people to buy cars and you needed to send 56 to get a Tesla Roadster, which was worth $250k depending on the model. I earned about 1.75 Roadsters through my referrals. Then I helped my dad and brother-in-law do the same thing with their codes.
The only catch is Tesla hasn't released the Roadsters yet. They said they would give them to us in 2019, and when they do release them I'll have to pay the difference for the partial .75 Roadster. So we have a lot of Roadsters that might be coming - we'll see."
