Tesla Investment Regret

Shaan shares a story about one of his biggest investment mistakes with Tesla stock.

"One of the worst investments I made was actually an investment I made right. I invested in Tesla when they were at $2 billion valuation. I put all the money I had straight out of college - about $25k - into Tesla.

I rode it up until it was at $7 billion and cashed out at a 3x return. At the time, I was thinking about General Motors and other big auto companies that were worth around $25 billion, and I thought Tesla could maybe be half as big or maybe even as big as those companies. That seemed like the ceiling.

Then Tesla went up and became a $1 trillion company. At one point, my $25k investment would have been worth $6 million. This felt late at the time - Tesla was already successful, Elon Musk was already known. This was back around 2012-2013."
