Wives Succeeded First

A story about how both podcast hosts (Sam Parr and Shaan Puri) were less financially successful than their wives when they first met.

Sam: "When I dated Sarah, her mom was like 'Does he have a job?' Her parents were entrepreneurs, they kind of got it, but they'd ask 'Where does he work?' Well, he works on his laptop, he can work anywhere. My first year I made like 20 grand, then 50 grand. My wife had a full-time job making six figures straight out of college, went to an Ivy League school and Facebook."

Shaan: "When I started dating my wife, she had just bought her first house, was driving a BMW M3 sport. I was living under my parents' house in an unpermitted in-law unit with my best friend from high school. Didn't have a car, didn't have a house. I had a good job, but when people asked what I did - 'He's a CEO of a startup' - which basically meant I was virtually unemployed in their eyes."

Both hosts acknowledge their wives were self-made liquid millionaires before they achieved their own success.
